Breathtaking by Fabrizio Frerri

A new cultural space in Venice, founded by yacht builder Sanlorenzo, Casa Sanlorenzo, has opened its first exhibition with Breathtaking, an installation by Italian artist Fabrizio Ferri.
The work highlights the devastating impact of plastic and microplastics on oceans and humanity. The installation features portraits of celebrities such as Sting, Willem Dafoe, and Naomi Watts, all of whom are suffocated by plastic waste.
First shown in Milan, where it drew 40,000 visitors in four days, the Venice edition introduces new elements, including a portrait of Sting and a symbolic glass coffin filled with seawater. The exhibition coincides with the Venice Film Festival and the Architecture Biennale.
Casa Sanlorenzo itself is a restored 1940s villa designed by Piero Lissoni as a hub for design, art, and environmental awareness. Sanlorenzo’s chairman, Massimo Perotti, emphasises the project as a statement on the urgent need to protect oceans. Ferri, known for his fashion photography and social engagement, continues his work at the intersection of art and activism with this installation.
